“Hosting the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta is a great honor for us and our internationally recognized racecourse at Cooper River Park,” said Commissioner Jeff Nash, liaison to the Camden County Parks Department. The regatta is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13, 2023. “The Board of Directors of the Dad Vail Regatta Organizing Committee, which stages the annual Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta, has voted unanimously to move the Regatta from the traditional site of the Schuylkill River National Racecourse to the Cooper River for the 2023 event to ensure successful production of the Regatta,” said Jim Hanna, president of the Dad Vail Regatta Organizing Committee. Cooper River Park in Pennsauken home to many prestigious rowing events and boasts a world-class, Olympic-distance, 2000-meter narrow and sheltered straightaway. Additionally, every HTRC rower and their parent/guardian are required to sign the Code of Conduct Agreement as a condition of participation.(Cherry Hill, NJ) – In May 2023, the 84 th Annual Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta will be held on the Cooper River, moving from its typical venue at the Schuylkill River National Racecourse. It includes additional safety issues, such as boating protocols, not found in the SafeSport Policy.Īll members of the Club are expected to comply with the SafeSport Policy and Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct Agreement and Team Rules deal with what is expected of rowers to create a safe and positive environment. Its focus is the prevention of physical, emotional and sexual abuse of minors. The Club’s SafeSport Policy applies to adult members who regularly interact with rowers (employees, coaches, Board Trustees and volunteers), the rowers and the organization. These documents are guided by and align with agreements between HTRC and its affiliate entities: the Haddon Township School District, the US Rowing Association and the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association.
The SafeSport Policy and Code of Conduct Agreement (links below) are important tools toward this goal, reflecting best practices and relevant procedures for the prevention of misconduct and the protection of minor athletes.
